Hi! I'm Pritam Maharjan, a solo indie developer based in Berlin, Germany. I built Ember Run as a small arcade passion project. This page explains — in plain English — what data the game touches, who else might see it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email me at emberrun0@gmail.com.
On your device only (localStorage): high score, sound preference, death/ad counters used to trigger rewinds, age declaration, and cached ad files (auto-deleted after 30 minutes or when you go back online). I never see this data — it lives on your phone.
Through Google AdMob (third party): when ads load, AdMob may process your IP address, advertising ID, device type, OS version, and coarse location for ad delivery and fraud prevention. See Google's ad policy.
Through Firebase Analytics (Google): the app uses Firebase Analytics to understand usage patterns. This may collect device identifiers, app interaction events, and crash data. See Google's privacy policy.
Through Firebase Crashlytics (Google): the app collects crash reports including device state, stack traces, and device info (model, OS version, memory) to diagnose and fix bugs. See Firebase privacy documentation.
Through Google Firestore (Google): if you are signed in, the app may store your user profile (user ID, display name, high score, games played) in a cloud database. This data is encrypted in transit and only accessible by you. See Google's privacy policy.
What I do NOT collect: no email addresses, no contact lists, no photos, no precise location.
Before any personalized ads load on EEA, UK, or Swiss devices, Ember Run shows Google's IAB-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) pop-up. You can choose:
You can revisit your choice anytime from Settings → Privacy Options in-game. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for ads, legitimate interest for on-device gameplay storage.
Your GDPR rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority. Email emberrun0@gmail.com and I'll respond within 30 days.
If you live in California, you have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information (which under CPRA includes cross-context behavioral advertising).
Ember Run is rated for general audiences but is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA).
Age Verification: On first launch, Ember Run asks "Are you 16 years of age or older?" This age gate is required under GDPR Article 8 (Germany's digital consent age is 16). Your answer is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to me or any third party.
I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided data, email emberrun0@gmail.com and I will delete it immediately.
I don't control how these companies handle your data once you interact with them.
On-device data stays until you clear app storage or uninstall. Cached ad creatives auto-delete after 30 minutes or the moment your device reconnects to the internet. Firebase Crashlytics data is retained for 90 days. Firestore data is retained until you delete your account or request deletion.
If I update this policy I'll bump the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, show a notice in-game on next launch.
